Designed around the customer circulation experience, this layout prioritizes the visual appeal and aroma of hot, fresh food artfully arranged to delight and inspire culinary exploration.

From the colorful glass waves in the dining area to the curvilinear soffits connecting the different seating areas, the ceilings are the unexpected centerpiece that compliment the color, texture and complexity of the food.

ABOUT

The owners  of Hiyaku Buffet are seasoned restaurateurs with multiple locations in and around the Portland area. Shea Gilligan was highly recommended by a trusted contractor to assist the already experienced team with overall layout, coordination between the trades and constructability consulting. The design was a true collaboration showcasing David’s craftsmanship – which elevated every finish detail to a level of artistry not commonly seen in today’s interiors. His vision to use not only the walls, but every surface as a design opportunity can be seen in Hiyaku’s ceiling treatment where tectonic, materiality and lighting converge to awe.

“Shea was a true asset to our team – working collaboratively, effectively and efficiently at every design phase. After working with her for one restaurant, I promptly hired her for my next two! She has helped me tremendously, throughout.”
