910 Building Public Food Hall. Prosper Portland’s public food hall improvement project. An adaptive reuse project, where the ‘bones’ of the original building were maintained, exposed and celebrated through the conversion of an old factory into a one-of-a-kind bar and event space.

This project was designed for Prosper Portland, the city of Portland’s economic and urban development agency.

ABOUT

The 910 Food Hall Project repositions an underutilized, long‑shuttered structure as a dynamic food‑focused hub for the Lloyd District. The design organizes the program around a new central courtyard, where daylight, planting, and a four‑sided feature bar create a strong interior anchor. The west building undergoes a complete gut renovation — including a seismic retrofit, new mechanical and electrical systems, and a reimagined façade that opens the building to the street.

On the east side, a collection of local food carts forms an active outdoor dining environment, supported by new infrastructure, weather‑protected seating, and extensive landscaping. The project blends indoor and outdoor experiences, creating a flexible, community‑serving venue that supports small businesses and brings new energy to the district. Designed to strengthen and celebrate Portland’s culinary community, this flexible event space beckons discovery by local residents and visitors alike.

“Working with Shea has been an absolute pleasure. She has been an irreplaceable partner throughout the many complexities of our project, bringing not only her sharp aesthetic eye to every design decision but also a steady hand in keeping the project on track whenever challenges arose.”

“Her thoughtful collaboration, creativity, and expertise were invaluable throughout the process, and I truly appreciated having her guidance every step of the way.”

“This is truly a great project. I love the design and its placemaking uniqueness. Not to mention the activation and food options it will bring to the area. In my opinion, the site is much improved by the project.”
